The Summer of Love and Humanity Festival at the Boston Center For The Arts, Plaza Theatres, features an evening of live music from local bands, followed by the world premiere of Love In An Elevator, a play inspiredby Plato’s Symposium. A mash-up of the ancient Athenian banquet and modernity takes center stage in the Athens of America, rounding out what just may be the most diverse cast in a Boston theatre this summer. A rabbi (David Lee Vincent), professor (Norman Bendroth), chef (John Brownlie),anarchist (Johnny Mooers),musician (Floris Liu), nurse (Megan Paluzzi), patient (Carol Drewes), lawyer (Vidisha Agarwalla), construction worker (Damien Parker), and his fiancée (Elisabeth C. Goncalves), are all trapped inside a hospital elevator. To pass the time, they take turns musing on that most elusive of subjects—love. And of course, someone has to pee! Complete with cameo appearances by Pan and Syrinx. Experience love without the heartbreak and enjoy a different musical performance each evening from one of the fifteen bands that are as diverse as the stage play’s cast!   Directed by Elliot Norton Award Winner Tim Lawton!

Mommy Are We Poor? New Play by Ravosa Law Offices Founder Richard Ravosa

Written by Ravosa Law Offices PC’s Founding Partner, Richard Ravosa, Mommy, Are We Poor? is the story of Chelsea, a widowed single mom with two jobs, two kids, too many bills, with Christmas approaching and no money for presents. Her boss offers to help, but it’s not the kind of help she had in mind. Can this struggling family get out of a 100-foot hole with a 50-foot ladder? One of the goals Richard had in writing the play, was to spread awareness that living with debt is nothing to me ashamed of. Circumstances outside of Chelsea’s control leads her to where we meet her when the play begins. There are resources, like the non-profit Massachusetts Debt Relief Foundation, (MDRF), available to help those who need legal help, because no one should struggle and live with the stress and anxiety caused by debt. The Organization strives to ensure every person has the resources needed to be able to live a happy, fulfilling life and achieve their financial goals.

Playwright Richard Ravosa’s world premiere is directed by Greg Allen, Professor of Theatre, Northeastern University, presented by Six Corners Entertainment, starring Bill Mootos, (AEA) Little Women 2019, Rena Baskin, (AEA), Lily Kaufman, Ivy Jackson, Alyssa Butterfield, and Jacob Moheban.

Ivy Jackson as Maegan & Lily Kaufman as Chelsea

Tickets are available tonight and for the final performance, Saturday August 20, 2022. Tickets are available at MCA box office or online www.mosesianarts.org.

Friday night is “Ladies Night” at the Mosesian Center for the Arts. All ladies who come to see Lily Kaufman as Chelsea fight for a better life for her kids in what veteran theatre critic Jules Becker described as “ultimately a dramatic face-off” will receive a free “Mommy, Are We Poor?” t-shirt!

We hope you can join us for a performance! All proceeds benefit MDRF so we can continue to help single moms just like Chelsea to overcome the unexpected and rebuild their financial lives. More information about MDRF can be found at massdebtrelieffoundation.org.
